Keeping your home clean is a never-ending task.
Sometimes, it feels long and tedious – there’s always something else to be done!
If you have a disability or suffer from chronic pain or reduced mobility, it can be especially tough. And in some cases, it can be impossible to clean your home without causing yourself pain.
That’s why you need our bathroom cleaning hacks. We’ve put together eight cleaning hacks for bathroom to help ease any limitations you may be facing when it comes to bathroom cleaning tasks.
1. Consider Where to Store Your Vacuum Cleaner
Vacuum cleaners can be very heavy, which means pushing them around your home is pretty exhausting.
Choosing a lightweight vacuum cleaner that’s easy to use and carry through the house will make one of the most manual household cleaning tasks much easier to manage.
If your budget allows, store a lightweight vacuum cleaner on each floor of your home so you don’t have to drag a vacuum up or down the stairs when it’s time to clean the bathroom.

2. Invest in an Extendable Duster (or make your own!)
This cleaning hack is especially useful for those little nooks and crannies in your bathroom.
Investing in a duster with an extendable handle will limit the need for you to stretch up high to reach cobwebs and dust, which is a task that often feels draining.
Alternatively, attach a duster to an empty wrapping paper roll for a makeshift handle.
3. Take Advantage of Your Dishwasher
If you have a dishwasher, remember it doesn’t just cut the time needed to clean the dishes. Many dishwashers can wash other plastic items, so why not use them to wash your shower seat, toothbrush holders or the kids’ bath toys?
Once you’ve washed these alternative items, remember to run a full dishwasher cleaning cycle before you use it for dishes and glasses again.
4. Use Baking Soda and White Vinegar to Clean
For a fresh-smelling, clean toilet, pour a cup of baking soda into the bowl, then slowly add a cup of white vinegar.
The mixture will fizz for several minutes, and the chemical reaction will help to break down any stains and nasty smells.
Once it stops fizzing, scrub it with a toilet brush before flushing.
5. Freshen Up Your Grout Lines
Make up a paste using baking soda and hydrogen peroxide.
Apply the paste to the grout lines, leave it to work for 10 minutes, and then scrub with an old toothbrush.
6. Give Cleaning Products Time to Work
Wondering how to clean a bathroom?
When it comes to heavy-use areas of the home, like the bathroom and kitchen, leaving your cleaning products to work their magic for a few minutes is a simple cleaning hack that will allow the chemicals to soak into any dirt.
This means the dirt will start coming away from the surface before you have to do any manual scrubbing.
Using this hack will reduce the amount of strength and time needed to clean away any mould or limescale yourself.
If it doesn’t work the first time, repeat the process and leave the products on a little longer. Always check the label and test your products in an inconspicuous area before leaving them to soak.
7. Get Creative With Dryer Sheets
Dryer sheets have many more usages than keeping your laundry soft. Have some stubborn dirt on your pots and pans? Leave a non-woven polyester dryer sheet in a pan, filled with hot water, overnight to help soften the leftover food.
In the morning, use the dryer sheet to wipe away the lifted dirt.
Another household cleaning hack is that dryer sheets can also be substituted for dusting cloths to clean television and computer screens. The silicon coating on the dyer sheets will reduce static while picking up all of the dust particles, leaving your screens fingerprint and dust free!
8. Don’t Try to Clean The Whole House in One Day
Most important of all, try to allocate certain tasks for specific days of the week.
For example, you might decide to clean the kitchen on a Monday, the living room on a Tuesday, the bedrooms on a Wednesday, and the bathroom on a Thursday.
Dividing up chores by days, rather than having one specific day for chores, will help to reduce strain and manage your energy levels.
If you live with a partner, friend or family member, work out how to share these bathroom cleaning hacks between you. This means you’ll have more time and energy to spend on tasks you enjoy.
